The opportunity:

The Project Control Firmware Engineer is a member of distributed, multi-location team develops, maintaining, and testing embedded software features related to motor control. Responsibilities include design, implementation, and testing of code plus involvement in requirement specifications and reviews. You will also Control-System FW integration. The coding is model-based and implemented in MATLAB/Simulink. Project Control Firmware Engineer will test the code at various stages, from bench simulation to implementation on actual variable frequency drives (VFDs) and motors. You will report to the Manager located in Poland and have a hybrid schedule working in Katowice, Poland.

 

Main responsibilities: 

  • Motor Control Model Development Designing and validating motor control algorithms and models using MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Embedded Firmware Feature Development Developing control features for induction, synchronous, and permanent magnet motor systems.
  • Control System Integration Integrating model-based control software with embedded firmware modules using C/C++.
  • Simulation and Hardware Testing Testing and validating solutions through simulations, laboratory environments, and physical drive systems.
  • Performance and Reliability Optimization Optimizing code for performance, memory efficiency, reliability, and safety requirements.
  • Technical Reviews and Quality Assurance Leading code reviews and ensuring engineering quality across distributed development teams.
  • Requirements and Innovation Support Participating in requirements definition, anomaly investigations, and development of new control algorithms.
  • Agile Team Collaboration Working within Agile teams to deliver motor control and embedded software solutions across global engineering groups.
 
Requirements (Must have):
  • Motor Control Engineering Experience Minimum 3 years of experience working with motor control systems and algorithms.
  • Motor Control Algorithm Knowledge Strong understanding of induction, synchronous, and permanent magnet motor control techniques.
  • MATLAB/Simulink Expertise Experience with model-based development and simulation using MATLAB and Simulink.
  • Power Converter Knowledge Understanding of power converter architectures, modulation strategies, and drive system modeling.
  • Embedded Software Integration Skills Experience interfacing model-based code with embedded software using C/C++.
  • Laboratory Testing Experience Hands-on experience performing validation and testing in laboratory environments.
  • Problem Solving and Innovation Skills Experience investigating anomalies and developing new control concepts and features.
  • Agile and AI-Enabled Engineering Mindset Experience working in Agile environments and openness to using AI tools to improve engineering productivity.
 
 
Requirements (Nice to Have):
  • Advanced Engineering Degree Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Advanced Embedded Systems Experience Extensive experience with embedded software, model-based design, and real-time systems.
  • Motor Drives and Power Electronics Expertise Experience developing motor drives, power converters, and associated control systems.
  • Advanced Programming Skills Strong experience with MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++ software development.
